PLANET OF THE APES Mondo posters (2012) - ILLUSTRACTION GALLERY’s BLOG 1st BIRTHDAY (part 6)
Pierre Boule’s sci-fi novel is one of the most influential of the 20th century having spawned 7 movies in 44 years, a TV series, Comic books, bad merchandising and numerous classic quotes. The first 5 movies were directed between 1968 and 1974 by Franklin J. Schaffner, Don Taylor, Ted Post and J. Lee Thompson and starred Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall and Ricardo Montalban.
The imagery has been very creative and in 2012, cult print house Mondo-Tees (known as Mondo) asked 6 of his best new artists to create a set to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Saga. Each poster above was limited between 295 and 375 copies and sold out instantly but we managed to get copies just in time !
