European pulp magazine illustration by Italian artist Allesandro Biffignandi
I’m torn as to which cover I like best of The Shadow series, but this one is pretty brilliant. The Skull with the bullet hole in it, the rich detailing, the engravings in the throne, the widows peak, the noose, and the red flowing cape are all flawless.
This Jim Steranko piece is the book cover of Shadow: Kings of Crime and it is titled Throne of Fear.
Acrylic on masonite drawn in 1978.
